I might be missing something here, but when I enter the Lounge and enter the discussion What are you listening to right now?, I am not able to find the reply button anywhere. Strange. Also, yesterday (I think), I participated in the chat (The Shoutbox), but now I can’t see the button to enter it, anywhere. I wonder if these two facts are related.
Also, I hope this is the right place to ask this technical question, given the Help is read-only.
Sorry @AlveK, it’s not very fair that you had access and then it was taken away. I’ll tell you what happened.
Chat and the Lounge were always meant to be more restrictive than the rest of the forum, but I loosened those restrictions so that new members coming over from the old site would see chat (including the Shoutbox) and the Lounge immediately, to make them feel at home.
It was in this period that you were able to post in the Shoutbox.
I later realized that this situation, although it was only meant to be temporary, contradicted some important stipulations in the terms of service, relating to online safety, namely that nobody can send private messages (either ordinary PMs or chat DMs) until they reach Trust Level 2.
So I re-introduced the more restrictive permissions.
For the trusted long-term members of TPF, those I know, I began to add them manually to a new group called legacy-members that carries with it an automatic Trust Level of 2.
(Another way of reaching TL2 is to subscribe.)
But I didn’t add you to that group. I didn’t know who you were and couldn’t find your email address on the old site.
Getting to TL2 organically requires you to participate here for a few weeks (I can’t remember the details).
If you were on the old site and just changed your name and email, let me know (privately if you prefer).
EDIT: And yes, this is the right place to ask such questions.
That’s no worries! I’m not in a rush, and I also figured it had to do with access, but I wanted to be sure. Right after posting this I saw that I have the status Basic, but not Member, which seemed like the likely reason. Thank you for your prompt reply!
